Wellesley Beachy Traditional Remodel
The Challenge
A busy financial professional — a repeat client — outgrew her previous home. Plus there wasn’t enough room for her dogs. Her new Wellesley home had beautiful light, good bones, and a generous lot, but the kitchen and baths were dated and the home lacked a primary suite.
We'd already designed two homes together. This project felt like a natural next chapter.
The Solution
We initially planned to carve a primary suite from an existing bedroom, but it soon became clear this home needed an addition. We created a spacious 2nd floor primary suite with abundant storage, added a sunroom below, and renovated the kitchen and bathrooms throughout.
A unified color palette—blues, greens, teals, and tans inspired by sand, sea, and sky—flows through the entire home. We kept her traditional furniture and refreshed it with high-end modern fabrics that uplift the vibe while keeping all the comfort. Thoughtful details throughout: tiles that evoke waves, a peacock feather kitchen backsplash, light-refracting marble, and a dog washing station in the mudroom.
Every detail down to the inch was considered for daily living and entertaining—family visits, holiday parties, and life with her dogs.
The result is a home that feels effortless, elegant, and unmistakably hers.
I highly recommend working with Abbey for any project you are contemplating in your home. I have done three projects with her over the past 13/14 years, which speaks volumes of how highly I regard her work, professionalism, attention to detail and kindness. She is a master of her craft. The first two projects were principally interior decorating, one was my primary residence and the other a summer home. The third project was a full scale, house renovation of a home first built in 1914, and all the challenges that can come with an older home. I was blown away by her vision, execution, deep trade contacts, design expertise and problem solving skills. I have worked with other designers and they can’t come anywhere close to what Abbey can do. She sees problems before they happen not after the fact. There is no “oops factor” in what she does. I would hire her again in a heartbeat, and I am not a person that is easy to please.
