Belmont Historic Multi-Generational

The Challenge

The homeowners of this Belmont historic home were empty nesters settling into the next phase of life. They had inherited furniture, sentimental pieces, and collected artwork—and wanted to introduce higher-end custom elements without replacing everything.

The design challenge: how to bring it all together into a home that felt cohesive, welcoming, and distinctly theirs.

The Solution

We used color, pattern, and textiles as the connective thread, creating a palette that flows from room to room. Larger patterns and softer neutrals anchor the main spaces, with quieter variations in adjacent rooms.

Rather than imposing a formula, we worked with what they loved and layered in new pieces that elevated the whole.

The result is a home that feels relaxed, collected over time, and very much theirs.

“We have worked extensively with Abbey on various projects for multiple homes over the years. She is extremely knowledgeable, talented, attentive, and conscientious. Frankly I can't say enough good things about her. She has an uncanny ability to understand her customer's taste and then make suggestions that will appeal. She has helped us with paint colors, lighting plans and fixtures, window coverings, furniture, custom rugs, ceiling fans, bathroom fans, and more that I'm not remembering now. We get countless compliments on the things she has helped us select. In the rare circumstance where we have had a problem with an item she suggested or purchased for us, she has promptly helped us to fix it. Recently, for example, there was a problem with a light fixture we had bought through her. I needed a replacement part. She promptly connected with the vendor, figured out what had caused the part to fail, and had the part shipped to me within a day or two. She responds quickly by phone and email - always - and in many cases seems to know more about various products and options than contractors, architects, sales reps, etc. Unlike other designers with whom we have worked, who always seem to suggest the most expensive options and always prefer all purchases to be made through them, Abbey has consistently met our budget. She is willing to look through catalogs and magazines and help us select items even from low-cost sources. Bottom line is that she is a truly outstanding professional, and we recommend her to anyone and everyone we know.”
